SIRIUS FM-1, -2, -3, and -4 (CD Radio)

The SIRIUS FM fleet of satellites are Digital Audio Radio Satellites (DARS) that were built for Sirius Satellite Radio (formerly CD Radio Inc.) for delivery of a new satellite-to-car, CD-quality, radio broadcast system across the continental United States. The first three satellites, SIRIUS FM-1, -2, and -3, were launched in 2000 and now provide DARS commercial-free programs to vehicles equipped with Sirius's revolutionary new small antennas. The fourth, SIRIUS FM-4, was built to ensure continuous service but was never needed and was donated by SiriusXM Satellite Radio to the Smithsonian’s National Air and Space Museum.
