SSL's long-term goals, as well as our daily activities, are guided by these values. At SSL, we work to emphasize quality, doing the right thing for the right reasons.

As a leader in the satellite industry, we recognize the value of new ideas that enhance technology, and we encourage employees to think creatively. SSL has an active patent program, holding over 160 patents.

SSL promotes teamwork, knowing that it takes a collaborative effort with more than a million employee hours to design, build, and test our satellites. We understand that our employees are our greatest asset; when our employees grow and improve, so does our business, which is why we encourage growth and promotion within the company. SSL offers management training courses for new managers. In addition, we have an employee tuition assistance program that assists employees who want to further their education in support of their career at SSL.

SSL is an active member of the community, supporting local organizations and charities, such as The Family Giving Tree and the Second Harvest Food Bank, as well as industry organizations. SSL has a charitable contribution matching program, along with a yearly United Way campaign, encouraging employees to donate to a charity and making matching contributions.

SSL has partnered with Change the Equation to support STEM education (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) by giving financial support, providing resources to local schools to promote STEM careers and learning, and offering local students a first-hand look at careers in STEM fields.

SSL's SPACE (Servicing People And Community Engagement) program provides SSL employees volunteer opportunities locally.
